Miriam Bishop Oliver
Miriam Bishop Oliver, 70, of Savannah, GA, wife of Frank Mac Oliver, passed away peacefully at home on January 31st, from a long battle with cancer.
Born in Springfield, Missouri, and raised in St. Petersburg, FL, she was the daughter of the late Reverend J. Bashford Bishop and Ruth Bishop. Miriam was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed her church family and Bible study. She also volunteered at Candler Hospital gift shop when her health permitted. She was an avid reader and a true inspiration to those who knew her courageous strength.
After graduating from Florida State University, Miriam moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she met her husband. She worked for Equifax/Choicepoint for thirty-seven years, where she received many awards for her accomplishments. She retired in April, 2005, and subsequently moved to Savannah in 2006.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 44 years, as well as her brother, John G. Bishop of Marietta, Georgia, her sisters-in-law, Pat Bishop of Brandon , FL, and Anne Hagin Glenn of Savannah, and brothers-in-law, Dana Oliver Linda of Savannah, and Steve Johnson Kathy of Atlanta, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother James B. Bishop, Junior of Brandon, FL. While Miriam had no children of her own, she accepted four children at various times and acted in a foster mother capacity.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 4th, 11:00 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1 Westridge Road, Skidaway Island. Burial will be a private ceremony in Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, or Hospice Savannah.

Dear Mac, I'm so sorry for your loss of Miriam - although 'loss' is really not an appropriate word to use in Miriam's case because she is not 'lost' but instead she is very much found. She has found peace and comfort in the arms of Jesus and for that we can all rejoice. Miriam became my friend through the Candler Gift Shop where we laughed and shared some good times volunteering together. Miriam was such an inspiration and motivator to me - never complaining - always smiling. She shared some of her life with me and for that I will always be blessed. God was so kind to share Miriam with all of us and for that I am very thankful. I'm sorry that I did not get to speak to you at the memorial service. It was such a beautiful remembrace of Miriam and her courageous life. God bless you now Mac, as you adjust to your life journey without Miriam at your side. Just remember she is really only a breath away and is in your heart always. Sincerely, Virginia Love

Mac and John, we will ALL miss Miriam so very much. As you know, she was more like a sister to me than a cousin. Her wonderful, always positive attitude about life was an inspiration. She always said she had had a great life and she was ready to go whenever God called her home. It is comforting to know that she is with her parents, brother Jim and other family members and friends and is also in the arms of the angels. She lives forever in our hearts.

It was always such a joy to be in the presence of Miriam! She lit up the room wherever she was! We’ve always admired her humorous and vibrant personality, positive attitude, compassionate nature, tenacious bravery, and kindhearted ways. She is going to be missed terribly! Dear, sweet, wonderful, Mac . . . our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family as you we all begin to endure such an overwhelming loss!
